Thanks to the efforts of the District’s employees, parents, and students who participated in our annual coat drive, some 400 residents will be a lot warmer this winter.
Director of Community Relations Mercedes Joaquin, who coordinates the annual coat drive, says some 400 coats were collected and distribution began around Christmas. However, she says there are still about 100 coats left, so anyone who needs a winter coat should contact the District for more information.
In addition to the coats, other people donated hats and scarves, including one parent, Rebecca Ortiz from Hudson School, who knit 30 hats and 30 scarves over the course of three months and donated them to the coat drive. Well done!
“I want to thank all the people who participated in our coat drive because your support means hundreds of Union City residents will have warm clothing to get them through this winter,” says Ms. Joaquin.
