Happy December!

The Washington School community enjoyed Thanksgiving with their family and friends at Mayor Brian P. Stack’s Annual Thanksgiving Dinner at the George Washington School.

Washington School celebrated National Education Week and Thanksgiving with parents along with their families during a Parent Breakfast meeting organized by our Parent Liaison, Mrs. Kanik. Parents also listened to a presentation on Vaping and Cannabis Prevention sponsored by Partners in Prevention. It was a huge success!

Washington School’s Kindergarten students celebrated and honored our veterans in celebration of Veterans Day.

This year marks the 100th anniversary of the discovery of King Tut's tomb in Egypt by archaeologist Howard Carter. Washington School's Art Teacher, Mrs. Colangelo, had her 5th grade students work on their artistic skills based on the sarcophagus of King Tut as a connection to our school theme, "Passport to Learning."

Washington School Principal Angel Rivera recognized a very deserving student with the October Student of the Month Award for demonstrating an excellent work ethic, study habits and leadership qualities. Congratulations to this amazing student.

Washington School students and staff celebrated Halloween with its “Passport To Learning” school theme. Kindergarten through 3rd Grade students participated in a parade while the other grades participated in Fall Festivities.

The Washington School would like to thank Union City Mayor Brian P. Stack for providing all of our students with pumpkins during this festive Halloween season. We look forward to this tradition every year. Thank you to our staff members for assisting in the distribution to all students.

Washington School’s 3rd Grade through 6th Grade students participated in a school wide monthly Math Multiplication Contest to improve the number sense skills of students. The winners of each classroom for the month of October were recognized and awarded by Principal Rivera along with Math Coach Ms. Mullaly. Congratulations to all winners!

Washington School celebrated Violence Awareness Week this week. They observed the week by providing age-appropriate lessons and activities which discussed methods for keeping schools safe from violence, school safety, security plans and learned how to recognize students in need of help.
