Black History Month is an annual celebration of achievements by African Americans and a time for recognizing their central role in U.S. history. Since 1976, every U.S. President has officially designated the month of February as Black History Month. Other countries around the world, including Canada and the United Kingdom, also devote a month to celebrating Black history.

Congratulations to the Washington School’s January 2024 Student of The Month! The student has demonstrated a great work ethic and dedication to learning on a daily basis. His dedication is quite admirable and he is an excellent example of the Union City School District.

The Washington School held a Parent Breakfast meeting recently with the parents and families. They were engaged in student performances and presentations from the Community Library, Ponce Bank, Palisades Family Success Center and the Alliance Community Center. Thank you to our Parent Liaison, Maria Kanik, for coordinating and planning for this important event for our parents.

Students from the Middle Schools worked on a mural project called “Words Matter” and created a mural for the Washington School. The mural was created for elementary students to inspire and motivate them to be positive and combat bullying in schools.

The Washington School held their annual “Breakfast with Santa” event for the students. Students enjoyed a special holiday treat and visit from Santa! Students were engaged in holiday activities during the event.

Parents and families participated in a Holiday Parent’s Breakfast at the Washington School! Parents enjoyed the breakfast and holiday student performances. It was a truly enjoyable experience for everyone.

Congratulations to Washington School’s Student of The Month for December 2023! The student has excellent grades and is very talented.

The children from the Washington School community received toys from the annual Brian P. Stack Toy Giveaway event held at Washington School today! Thank you to Union City Mayor Brian P. Stack for hosting this special event during the holiday season and thank you to all the staff and volunteers that decorated and assisted in this event.
