Here is the latest news and information about upcoming events concerning the Washington School. Please take a moment to review our March 2023 calendar.

The Washington School will celebrate “Read Across America” all next week (February 27-March 3) with daily themes and reading activities. It will certainly be an enjoyable experience for the students.

The Washington School awarded the students that received Honor Roll for the 2nd Marking Period at a ceremony held this week. Congratulations to all students for their academic achievements. Parents and family members were invited to attend.

Washington School celebrated Black History Month as well as Valentine’s Day with parents and families during a Parent Breakfast. Parents and families were invited to see student performances. In addition, there was an excellent student art exhibit celebrating Black History Month. These students are truly talented.

Congratulations to our Washington School students for participating in the Winter Special Olympics and winning the Gold medal. Thank you to teachers, Mr.Martinez and Ms. Marren, for coordinating this event for our students.

This week marks the 100th Day of School during the 2022-2023 academic year in the Union City School District. The Washington School celebrated 100 Days of School with a school spirit day and a classroom poster contest. It was truly an outstanding job by the students during this festive time.

The Washington School hosted “Family Movie Night” for our students and families. It was an excellent opportunity for them to enjoy some family time together. Thank you to all the staff members who participated and assisted with this event. It was an incredible success.

The Washington School celebrated the Chinese New Year with parents and family members during a Parent Breakfast held this week. Parents enjoyed Chinese treats, student performances and a presentation by the librarian from the Union City Public Library regarding a variety of programs available for children in the community.

The Washington School Kindergarten students learned about the artwork of American Artist Jim Dine and the historical significance of Dr. Martin Luther King. Art Teacher, Mrs. Colangelo, had the students decorate bulletin boards in the school with their artwork. They are truly talented and gifted students.
