The Washington School celebrated “National Teacher Appreciation Week (May 8-12)” Thank you to all teachers for your dedication and support throughout the school year.

The Washington School celebrated Asian American and Pacific Island Heritage Month. Mrs. Colangelo, Art Teacher, and her 6th Grade students learned about the most famous piece of artwork from Japan, “The Great Wave.” The students used that as an inspiration to create their own artwork using oil pastel, colored pencils, watercolor and tempera paint.

Congratulations to Washington School’s Second Grade students for being selected by Principal Rivera as the Students of the Month for the month of April! These students are to be commended for their commitment to their studies.

Thank you for taking the time to examine this very important information as the Union City School District continues to prioritize the importance of the Anti-Bullying Bill of Rights Act.

The Washington School Third Grade thru 6th Grade students participated in a “Testing Pep Rally” to motivate students to do well on the upcoming NJSLA Assessments (New Jersey Student Learning Assessments). The students will be assessed in Language Arts and Math. The Fifth Grade students will also be assessed in Science. Good luck to all students.

The Washington School celebrated “Bring Your Child To Work Day” with a variety of activities for the staff members’ children. Principal Rivera provided a luncheon for the staff members and children.

The Washington School celebrated Earth Day and Eid Day, which marks the end of Ramadan, with parents and families during a Parent Breakfast. In addition, parents enjoyed student performances and a presentation on Autism Awareness. Outside agencies were also invited to provide valuable community resources and information to parents.
